Lotsin is an independent, privately held information service about women’s health in Austria. The media owner and operator are named in full in the legal notice.

Lotsin is not a healthcare provider. We employ no medical staff, we diagnose no one, we treat no one, and we broker no treatment.

At the moment, we don’t. There is no advertising, no paid placement, no sponsorship from practices, clinics, laboratories, or pharmaceutical companies, and no commission if you book an appointment anywhere.

If that ever changes, it will say so here - before the change, not after it.

Every number and every deadline on this site has a source, and the source sits next to it - not in a footnote at the bottom of the page. We prefer primary sources: RIS for legislation, gesundheit.gv.at, the health ministry, the ÖGK, the high courts. Where an official page is out of date or sources contradict each other, we say so rather than quietly picking one.

Where we cannot evidence something, it says so. We quote no NIPT price, no waiting times for fertility centres, and no price range for private IVF - not out of laziness, but because no reliable public source exists. An invented number is worse than a missing one.

The practice listings come from the open data of the City of Vienna and Land Steiermark (both licensed CC BY 4.0). That is as far as it reaches: the other seven Länder are not here. We say so, so that an empty list does not read as "nobody practises in Linz or Innsbruck". We invent no practices and take no listings from commercial directories. The ordering is not for sale. The current count sits in the directory itself.

What is missing there - insurance-contract status, languages spoken, step-free access, whether new patients are being taken - is missing because it is in no Austrian open dataset. We do not guess it. Contract status is public under §27 of the Medical Practitioners Act; we are asking the Medical Chamber for it. In Styria the phone number is missing too: the Land keeps no such column. Where a Styrian practice shows no number, that is on us and on the register - not on the doctor.
